Sadly, several of our county’s World War I soldiers died of disease, many even before they left training camp. Private Harley Edgar Jones of New Ross joined the service in September of 1917, and died at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, of pneumonia in February of 1918. May he never be forgotten.
